Gold SEGA Testarossa
This Gold Testarossa was a reward to SEGA distributers/sales for highest sales performance.
There are believed to be around 100 of these made but we are not sure if the idea was officially implemented.
It has SEGA on the rear number plate and OutRun on the engine cover at the back of the car.

I remember seeing this advert in U.K gaming magazines giving you the chance to win an OutRun mini machine.
Wonder who won this back in the 80’s
Mean Machines OutRun Megadrive
Below is a snippet from one of me favorite gaming mags of the 80’/90’s Mean Machines. Mean Machines was a fun magazine and always reviewed the Jap import games. Julian Rignal was a great reviewer who I met once and still have his autograph on a Sonic poster.
In fact I was actually in the magazine myself.

OutRun double sided Mouse Mat
Spotted this on the Japanese Yahoo auction site…a double sided mouse mat featuring the OutRun route map on one side and a colour screen shot on the other. I think this pic has been use on the Japanese flyer before also.
Starting bid is ¥1000 / $12 / £7.
This would look great next to your OutRun puzzle….who said OutRun merchandise was dull???
OutRun pin badge
Above – A vintage OutRun enamel pin badge and a photo of a great SEGA collection.
I believe these pins date back to the time when the SEGA master system was the cutting edge console.
They most probably were available from the SEGA master system fan club.
If you want this badge it’s currently on eBay at around $25Aus dollars.
SEGA AM 24th Game Card🇯🇵
Below is a picture of a SEGA OutRun game card given out at the 24th Jamma Amusement Machine show in Japan (1986).
There is also a standard variant available to use at SEGA arcades.
OutRun Telephone Card
🇯🇵
Previously we found two OutRun themed arcade cards, today I spotted for the first time an OutRun themed Telephone Card released in the 80’s by tele communication group NTT.
The item has appeared on a Japanese auction site, it will be interesting to see the closing bid value.
Yu Suzuki Gameworks Vol 1🇯🇵
Gameworks volume 1 is a glossy Japanese released hard back book focusing on Yu Suzuki’s game history.
Release during the SEGA Dreamcast era it featured a GD-ROM with 5 of Yu’s classics sprite scalers including a version of OutRun with an unfortunately modified Ferrari.
The book is totally in Japanese so if your not familiar with Japanese the only thing you will get out of it is the game disk and the gorgeous photos and archive pictures.
So let’s take a look at some of the OutRun specific content.
Below – The book featured a first time release of a drawing of the Standard sit down arcade.
This was then accurately presented at the 1986 Jamma Show in Japan (Below)
As you can see below The original drawing seen in the book varies to the production cabinet. The production version dropped the OutRun writing from the base.
There’s also a nice concept drawing of the what the Deluxe cabinet may of turned out like (Below)
Think I prefer the final production design.
There are some nice photos of the machines too and they are in perfect condition.
I picked up this japanese book when it was first released for £70 from a Video Games Importer in the UK.
You can still pick it up now from Specialist import shops or eBay.
The price hasn’t changed to much over the years, you can still grab it from £70 – £100.
SEGA Freaks Collectors Cards🇯🇵
I came across some SEGA collector cards a fair while back but never realised that OutRun was featured.
The cards are called SEGA Freaks and were released in Japan back around 1996.
The cards featured pictures and facts about SEGA Arcade machines, Consoles, Games and Characters.
Above – Some special cards were reflective .
Below are some photos I found with a OutRun Deluxe card.
I believe there were 3 series of these cards and 120 in total.

Console Mania Magazine OutRun Cover Feature.

OutRun Wallet
Yosuke Okunari post a photo of his 20+ year old OutRun wallet on Twitter to celebrate the announcement of 3D OutRun coming to 3DS.
SEGA Joy Joy Magazine May 1987 issue No 10
I think SEGA released this as part of a series of game catalogues for the Mark III. Each one would feature new release games and include the current catalogue of games available.
I really love the Japanese artwork on these catalogues.
Everything excellent, great document compilation!
Hey, just passing by to say “thanks for all these wonderful images!”
OUTRUN FOREVER!!
No probs! Gotta love OutRun!!
Have you seen the book by Haynes called ‘The Driving Games Manual’ it has 4 pages talking about Outrun’s contribution to the genre!
