I actually liked the original Spectrum version. The outline of the sprites and detail were pretty close to the arcade compared to the Amstrad and C-64, this version looses the detail but improves on colour.

Apart from having a OutRun Arcade machine at home the next best thing is MAME.
You can run M.A.M.E with a nice visual front end like Hyperspin with animated art and attract video. (see above)

NEC PC 6001 (Japan🇯🇵)

The NEC PC-6001 was the first of the NEC Corporation personal computer line. There was also an American version, called the NEC TREK, or NEC PC-6001A.
This is a rare version of OutRun and there is very little info on it out there, even the box art seems impossible to find.

The Sega Saturn version whas the real deal, with cool remixes from the songs as a extra if you had the Japanese version! Play this game with the Knight into dreams analogue pad, and get the OutRun experience at home!

Thinking of it, it took SEGA 10 years to be able to do this game justice at home! M.A.M.E. delivered the experience sooner, but i’d rather play a original released game to support the developpers. But as long as they don’t release a game, i don’t mind using the emulator running games i otherwise can’t play anymore, as no arcade hall has those cool games anymore.
